A working musician (bassist) himself, Max brings firsthand industry experience to his entertainment law practice. From 2015 through 2025, his legal work focused heavily on advising independent artists, musicians, filmmakers, and creative businesses on contracts, intellectual property protection, licensing, negotiations, and business strategy. He has helped artists secure fair and equitable deals, guided businesses on trademark and intellectual property matters, and represented plaintiffs in disputes involving employers, collaborators, and business partners. His practice reflects a long-standing commitment to empowering creatives while delivering practical, results-oriented legal counsel.
Outside of his law practice, Max has developed and presented educational workshops for creatives and entrepreneurs, and continues to partner with universities and community organizations to expand access to legal and business education. He has spoken at the Tulane Sports and Entertainment Conference, New Orleans MusiCon, The NAMM Show, and NECANN, and has given guest lectures at Tulane University, University of California Los Angeles, University of New Orleans, University of Denver, Colorado State University, NOVAC, the Joan Mitchell Center, the ELLA Project, New Orleans Metronome, Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, Association of Film Commissioners International, Arizona Production Association, The Art of Documentary, and several other arts organizations. Max also serves on the board of the New Orleans-based film nonprofit Court 13 Arts.
Outside of work, Max spends his time reading, playing bass, drums, and guitar, writing music, and learning piano. He also enjoys cooking, yoga, baseball, and getting outdoors as much as possible. He is conversational in French and is learning Spanish. Originally from upstate New York, Max lived in Philadelphia and New Orleans during his educational years, spent 2019-2025 in Denver, CO (where he met his wife), and now lives in the Irish Channel neighborhood of New Orleans with his family.
