Joseph S. Makkos is a New Orleans–based archivist, artist, DJ, and cultural entrepreneur whose work bridges music, history, technology, and creative expression. As founder of Intelligent Archives, he works to preserve and activate historic media collections, including more than one million pages of original New Orleans newspapers and an extensive collection of Gulf South music on 45 RPM records. Performing as DJ Archivist, he brings rare sounds and forgotten musical histories to contemporary audiences, with appearances at international festivals including Glastonbury, Boomtown, and Green Man. His work explores how cultural heritage can inspire new creative experiences, collaborations, and opportunities.
