Ekanem Ebinne is a wellness technology founder, adult education trainer, and developmental music psychologist who helps established musicians tap a licensing avenue most artists never consider: functional music. She is the founder of Joyful Sound Productions and creator of Liftly™, a postpartum music wellness app that uses adaptive audio to support mothers with mood, breastfeeding, and sleep. Through the Functional Music Launchpad, she coaches musicians entering the functional music market.
A 2025 Idea Village Metronome cohort member, Ekanem trained at the Yale Child Study Center and the Laboratory of Music and Communication in Infancy at the New University of Lisbon, and holds certification in Gordon Music Learning Theory. She has published research on music’s impact in maternal-infant wellness and spoke at SXSW 2026 on music and wellness alongside professionals in music for health and sync licensing.
A mezzo-soprano and voice-over artist with 15+ years of cross-cultural community music practice, she sang in the chorus of OperaCréole’s world premiere of Edmond Dédé’s Morgiane. She brings a performer’s ear and a psychologist’s understanding of how music works on listeners to helping artists position their music beyond traditional placements.
