Murf Reeves moved to New Orleans in 2001 as an aspiring cook and music lover, and seeker, with a daughter on the way. Within two weeks he had become a substitute show host at WWOZ. His first show was in the legendary tree house in Armstrong Park. Being a sub show host was Murf’s de facto education in the music of New Orleans. He learned so much listening to the show hosts and hanging in the record stores. In 2008, Murf earned his own show, The Monday New Orleans Music Show and have been hosting since. In 2020 he took the job as music director. His chief responsibility is sharing music with the 75 volunteer show hosts and coordinating live interviews and performances.
