Ovi-G is a multifaceted musician, vocalist, instrumentalist, and visionary co-founder of OVJ Collective New Orleans’ first Spanglish music project, a groundbreaking musical movement that bridges cultures, genres, and generations through the universal language of music.
Born into a rich musical legacy, Ovi-G began his journey at the age of 10, influenced by his father, Ovidio Giron, a celebrated Guatemalan singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Growing up in New Orleans, Ovi-G developed his musical versatility through the Latin and gospel church, his studies at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), and years of performing alongside his father’s band, The FROGGIES. His experience spans Latin jazz, salsa, merengue, bachata, funk, R&B, gospel, rock, and contemporary music.
Today, that musical foundation has evolved into something extraordinary.
Alongside his musical brothers and fellow founders, Victor Campbell and Jafet Pérez, Ovi-G created OVJ Collective, a one-of-a-kind project celebrating the cultural heartbeat of New Orleans while embracing the vibrant musical traditions of Latin America.
Blending English and Spanish seamlessly, OVJ Collective delivers an electrifying fusion of New Orleans funk, soul, second-line rhythms, salsa, bachata, merengue, reggaeton, and contemporary hits. Their mission is simple: break musical boundaries, unite communities, and create an unforgettable experience for audiences of every background.
In less than a year since its formation, OVJ Collective has experienced explosive growth, headlining four festivals and performing in the legendary snug harbor among more, quickly establishing itself as one of the city’s exciting emerging live music projects. Their dynamic performances, infectious energy, and unique Spanglish identity have resonated with audiences throughout New Orleans and beyond.
What began as a shared musical vision between three brothers has rapidly grown into a movement one that proudly represents the multicultural spirit of New Orleans and the next generation of its musical legacy.
OVJ Collective isn’t just a band. It’s a cultural connection, a celebration of musical diversity, and a new sound emerging from the heart of New Orleans.
Three brothers. Two languages. One collective. Unlimited musical possibilities.
