Joshua Starkman is a guitarist, bandleader, and educator who has called New Orleans home since 2010. Originally from South Florida, he earned his master’s degree in Jazz Guitar at the University of New Orleans. Over the past 8 years, he has made music and content with hundreds of musicians through his social media series Have a Great Day, documenting and marketing their work as well as his own. That work has led him to become chief social media strategist and content creator for Music Box Village and other clients. He is also musical director of the late night Midnight Preserves Concert Series at Preservation Hall during JazzFest and teaches through Starkman Guitar Studio. Joshua brings a working musician’s view to the panel on the daily realities of making a life in music, and how those realities shape mental health.
