SourceAudio, Global Head of Catalog Services

Weston McGowen is Global Head of Catalog Services at SourceAudio, the music industry’s most widely adopted sync platform and a leader in AI music dataset licensing. Based in New Orleans, he oversees SourceAudio’s global catalog ecosystem, including client operations, metadata, and rights-management infrastructure for the company’s network of rightsholders, publishers, broadcasters, and media partners. He also directs SourceAudio’s Rights and Royalties Division, which includes SourceAudio Collect, the company’s publishing-administration arm representing more than 1.6 million works. Since joining SourceAudio, McGowen has helped bring high-value independent labels and catalogs onto the platform and led the launch of Mood Magic Music, the company’s educational music product.

In addition to his role at SourceAudio, McGowen is the co-founder of Equal Songs, a boutique publishing and label venture created with multi-Platinum producer and songwriter Stefan Skarbek. Equal represents artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers, with holdings that include catalogs affiliated with Amy Winehouse, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the Spice Girls, and Sugababes. He also serves as Chief Catalog Officer at Mirrorball Entertainment, the company founded by Skarbek and Grammy-winning mixer Tony Maserati, which administers publishing tied to global hits including “Watermelon Sugar” and “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles. McGowen is also the architect of the Global Music Export Exchange, an initiative developing modern creative-trade infrastructure that connects cities, industries, and nations through music, technology, and commerce. Most recently, McGowen has collaborated with groups such as the UK Government’s Department for Trade and the City of New Orleans, shaping frameworks for how culture and commerce intersect on a global scale.

Before joining SourceAudio, McGowen served as Global Head of Commercial Partnerships at Endel, the German functional-music DSP and neuroscience-backed soundscape company recognized as Apple Watch App of the Year in 2019. There, he led initiatives for Fortune 100 brands including Wells Fargo. He previously worked as Director of Commercial Partnerships at Create Music Group, where he oversaw partnerships for The Nations, a YouTube multi-channel network and label group with more than 70 million subscribers, and its sister label, Lowly. That experience across commercial partnerships, publishing, catalog strategy, and rights management helped prepare him for his current work building SourceAudio’s global catalog, rights, and monetization infrastructure.

McGowen has previously spoken at SXSW, the annual Music Biz conference, and NOLA MusiCon. He is also a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California, UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, and Loyola University New Orleans. McGowen sits on the Global Music Advisory Board of In Place of War and is a member of A2IM, The Music Producers Guild, and the Association for Electronic Music. He previously sat on the Music Industry Advisory Board of Sonic Guild Austin.
