Because of this, musicians and their teams need to have a working understanding of what copyrights are, how they work, and how contracts can be used to protect the parties to a transaction. This session takes those complex areas of law and breaks them down into easy-to-understand concepts, using simple “plain English.” Led by entertainment attorney Max Hass, the Music Law session will start with an explanation of the basics of copyright and fundamentals of contracts, discuss the differences between masters and publishing, and provide an overview of the common revenue and royalty streams found in the music industry.
