Taslya Mejia
Taslya Mejia serves as the International Relations Director at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, advancing New Orleans’ jazz heritage on the global stage. Born in Honduras and raised in New York, she has called New Orleans home since 2002, dedicating herself to cultural preservation, community engagement, and international collaboration. She is currently pursuing a degree in International Relations and Global Security at AMU to further strengthen her expertise in cultural diplomacy.
Mejia began her career volunteering at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, later serving as an executive assistant and contributing to Telemundo, before joining the Jazz Museum during the pandemic. In her current role, she has cultivated strategic partnerships with cultural institutions in Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Serbia, France, Morocco, Taiwan, and the Dominican Republic. Her work includes organizing performances for French President Emmanuel Macron and facilitating New Orleans musicians’ engagements at the Presidential Palace in France. She also founded the Jazz Ambassadors program, providing international performance opportunities for emerging music students.
A recognized leader in cultural exchange, preservation, and diplomacy, Mejia serves on the Louisiana District Export Council, the boards of Global New Orleans and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana Foundation, and previously chaired the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana Young Professionals. Her contributions have been honored by New Orleans Magazine as a Top Female Achiever (2024) and as Mardi Gras Mambo Queen (2025).
Mejia leads initiatives at the museum celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, International Women’s Day, and International Jazz Day. Inspired by her mother’s dedication to service, she continues to connect communities worldwide through music, culture, and diplomacy.
