Tanner Magee
Tanner Magee is a Terrebonne native. He’s married to Kristen Magee and they raise their triplet daughters in their home in Downtown Houma. He is a practicing attorney and has bachelor, masters, and law degrees from LSU.
In 2015, he was elected to his first term in Louisiana House of Representatives. In 2019, he was re-elected to his second term and was elected as Speaker Pro-Tem without opposition.
In 2017, he was selected by the Louisiana Hospital Association as their legislator of the year and selected by Louisiana Association for Business and Industry as their MVP.
In 2018, he was selected to the Emerging Leaders Program at the Darden School in the University of Virginia. The only member of the House to be selected during his term. Additionally, he was Southwest Chamber of Louisiana’s Rising Star of the legislature award winner.
In 2019, he was named by the Times Picayune as one of the “Winners” of the legislative session for passing the Uber/Lyft bill and the largest investment in roads and bridges in 30 years. Additionally he was Southwest Chamber of Louisiana’s legislator of the year in 2019 and their special award winner in 2021.
He was also named an Aspen Institute-Rodel Fellow. One of only 24 fellows across the United States selected from over 600 nominations. Past fellows include Michael Steele, George P. Bush, Gabby Giffords, and Pete Buttigeig.
Additionally, Tanner is an active member of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Downtown Houma. He is also currently the Past President of the Terrebonne Bar Association.
