Stephen Garofano

Steve Garofano is a musician and a music neuroscience researcher and educator. He has worked for over 2 decades as a professional drummer, in a variety of genres, in New Orleans, New York City and abroad, finding his niche in live-electronic music. Interest in the human brain’s mechanisms for the perception and production of music took him to graduate studies in cognitive neuroscience in Berlin, Germany. Upon returning to New Orleans, Garofano has found inspiration teaching in the departments of music and neuroscience at Loyola University, and in rejoining the vibrant music community of the city.
