Rosie Lopez

Co-Founder and CEO, Opus Music Group

Rosie Lopez is Co-Founder and CEO of Opus Music Group, an independent label, publisher and music investment fund with a portfolio of diverse catalogs ranging from Hip Hop to Latin. Her exciting career path serendipitously began when DJ gigs led to connections in the music industry and a position in college radio and retail promotion, then GM positions at DMC/MixMag, Big Life, and Masters At Work, before joining Tommy Boy in 2003.

Before launching Opus Music Group with backing from private equity giant Elliott Management, Rosie Lopez was President of Tommy Boy Music which sold to Reservoir in June of 2021. Prior to her rise to President of Tommy Boy, she spent six years as Head of Marketing and International, and three years as its Vice President. During these years she developed and led marketing campaigns for all releases including Ghostface Killah’s critically acclaimed “36 Seasons”, and three career launching albums for Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane. She executive produced multiple successful soundtracks and worked closely with Showtime to take The L Word and Queer As Folk soundtracks from cult, to mainstream status. Soon thereafter, Lopez became deeply involved in A&R and in 2005 signed international DJ Bob Sinclar. Considered by many to be the first EDM DJ to secure “Superstar” status in America, the album Western Dream contained two successful singles “Love Generation” and “World Hold On”. Her other signings produced more than 30 #1 singles on the Billboard Club Chart, affording Tommy Boy with “#1 Dance Label” status for 5 years in a row according to Billboard Magazine. In 2011 she executive produced Tommy Boy’s sold-out 30th Anniversary Concert at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland which featured performances from Afrika Bambaataa, House of Pain, Naughty By Nature, Coolio, Digital Underground, and Prince Paul.

She is currently serving on RIAA’s Board and previously served as Chairperson for A2IM’s Board of Directors, and Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Foundation, which implements innovative solutions to youth homelessness that focus on the unique experiences of LGBTQ people. Rosie has been a guest speaker and panelist at many music conferences including SXSW, A2IM’s Indie Week, Sync Summit, New Music Seminar, Amsterdam Dance Event, Winter Music Conference, and Billboard Music Conference.
