Michi-G comes from a deeply musical family—her grandfather on her father’s side made history in their hometown, inspiring generations to follow in his footsteps. Born in Guatemala City and raised in LaPlace, Louisiana, Michi-G grew up surrounded by rhythm, faith, and family. Her musical journey began at just nine years old when her father taught her to play the piano. What started as a family tradition soon blossomed into a shared passion—her sister on bass, her brother on drums, and Michi-G at the Keys.
After a decade of performing together in church, the family decided to form their own Latin band, blending lively merengue, salsa, and soca with their deep musical connection. Over the years, they performed across the U.S. and abroad, bringing their vibrant energy to weddings, festivals, and private events from Canada to Guatemala, Los Angeles to Florida.
When the pandemic brought the band’s 15-year journey to a close, Michi-G never stopped creating or sharing her gift. Today, she leads worship alongside her husband, Josue Ortiz, keeping the stage alive in her heart. Through every song, she carries forward her family’s legacy while writing a new melody of her own—one filled with faith, love, and the vibrant energy that has always defined her music.
